Fertile Sun
Fertile Sunrise
The following is an excerpt from The Age of Movement
“The Lummi Nation, also known as the Lhaq'temish or 'People of the Sea,' is a Native American tribe that calls Washington state home. The Lummi believe that the stories, beliefs, and culture that an expectant mother is exposed to somehow program these things into the DNA of a baby within the womb. This process helps young Lummi carry on the cultural traditions by weaving them into their very being via cellular programming.
The Lummi have a deep-seated belief in the process of genetic imprinting through traditions and stories. As it often occurs throughout human history, rituals and customs often precede the science that seemingly legitimizes them. Nevertheless, science and data have begun to emerge looking at the effects that things like music, emotions, trauma, and exercise have on a human in utero, as an infant, and later into childhood. This type of passing of the genetic torch is called intergenerational epigenetic inheritance.”
